• Location data you provide: When you search for a city or select a location on the map, we process the coordinates and place name to calculate times and display results.
• Optional device geolocation: If you choose "Locate Me" or enable real‑time tracking, we use your browser’s geolocation API to read approximate latitude/longitude. This happens on your device; we do not continuously store this data on our servers.
• IP‑based lookup (fallback): If browser geolocation is unavailable, we may resolve an approximate location via an IP geolocation service (e.g., ipapi.co) to improve defaults. The third‑party service may receive your IP address to perform this lookup.
• Weather and imagery requests: To enhance results we query third‑party APIs such as OpenWeatherMap (weather), Unsplash and Pexels (imagery). These providers may process request metadata (e.g., IP, headers) per their policies.
• Device and usage logs: Our servers may record standard logs (requested URLs, timestamp, referrer, basic user agent) for reliability and security. We do not build user profiles or sell personal information.

Local Storage & Cookies

• Recent locations: We store minimal preferences in your browser’s localStorage to improve convenience (e.g., keys such as recentLocations andgolden-hour-recent-searches). You can clear these via your browser settings.
• UI state cookie: We use a simple cookie (e.g.,sidebar_state) to remember interface preferences. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

How We Use Information

• Provide core functionality: calculate golden/blue hour, sunrise/sunset, and related guidance.
• Display weather and contextual imagery to improve planning.
• Maintain reliability, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot performance using aggregate logs.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited data with service providers strictly to deliver functionality, including OpenWeatherMap (weather), Unsplash/Pexels (imagery), ipapi.co (IP geolocation), and standard hosting/CDN services. Each provider processes data per its own privacy policy.

Retention

Server logs are retained for a limited period necessary for security and operations, then deleted. Data in your browser (localStorage/cookies) persists until you clear it. We do not maintain a user database.

Security

We employ reasonable technical measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and you use the Service at your own risk.

Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided us information, please contact us to remove it.
